Yahr Income Tax LLC (“Site”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is deeply committed to protecting your privacy.  We have created this privacy statement to demonstrate our strong, ongoing commitment to your privacy.   

Client Information Privacy Policy

The Federal Trade Commission has issued regulations that require tax preparation firms to provide an annual statement of firm privacy policies.  Here is our policy:  We handle all information you provide us with the utmost confidentiality.  Your personal information will only be shared with members of our firm who need to know this information in order to complete the work you have hired our firm to do.  We will not disclose your personal information to anyone outside our firm without your express written permission to do so or unless we are required to do so.  For example, if a mortgage lender contacts our office for a copy of your return or information about it, we will ask you to provide written permission prior to our responding to that request.  Written permission can include a chat through our secure portal, an email to a Yahr Income Tax LLC team member, or a document giving permission uploaded to our secure portal.  We require permission from only one spouse, if applicable. 

Information Collection

The privacy of our clients is important to us.  We collect nonpublic information about clients from various sources, including: 

  • Interviews regarding our client’s tax and financial situation. 
  • Applications, organizers, and other documents that supply such information as your name, address, telephone number, social security number, driver’s license information, number of dependents, income, and other financial and tax-related data. 
  • Tax related documents clients provide that are required for processing tax returns, such as Forms W-2, 1099-R, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, 1099-DIV, and stock transactions. 

Yahr Income Tax LLC does not use your IP address for any purpose, and we do not track your IP address as matched to any personal information. 

Notice Regarding Advisor-Client Privileged Communications 

You should also be aware that anything you tell us during the tax preparation process is confidential but not protected from the IRS.  Privileged communications (those that are protected from IRS authority to compel our testimony) are limited to non-criminal tax advice on matters before the IRS or non-criminal tax proceedings in federal courts.  Although we consider any information you provide us as confidential, return preparation engagements are not covered by advisor-client privilege.   

If you feel the nature of any subject matter to be discussed requires protected communications, please raise that issue so that we can discuss your possible need to consult with an attorney for legal advice. 

Data Storage

We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information. 

We utilize a secure client portal, TaxDome, for client documents and information collection.  Please see TaxDome’s privacy policy for additional details:  

We utilize a private, secure server utilizing Microsoft’s cloud-based storage platform incorporated into Microsoft 365 for backing up all documentation received from clients through the portal and documents shared with clients via the portal. 

Tax processing data used by Drake software is held on our private virtual desktop server also powered by Microsoft.   

PDF document scanning and security are provided by Adobe. 

SMS Text Messaging

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.  All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. 

Communication Policy and Opt-Out

We give users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications directly from us at any time.  The following options are available for removing your information from our database, so as not to receive future communications or to no longer use our services.

We may use personal information to contact you with client newsletters and periodic emails for estimated payment reminders, educational, or marketing purposes.  These emails may be sent through our marketing provider, Practice Panda.  To remove your information from these lists, click on the unsubscribe link in these emails or contact us using the above methods. 

Referrals are Welcome

Referrals are the cornerstone of any service business. Yahr Income Tax LLC, like other professional service firms, relies on satisfied clients as the primary source of new business.  Your referrals are both welcome and most sincerely appreciated! 

Since your referrals are generally individuals you are well acquainted with, you can be assured that your personal, financial, and tax data will not be shared with them. 

When you refer clients to us, you are expressing your confidence in the services this office has and will continue to provide to you.  You may have business associates who need professional tax advice, or family and friends that struggle to do their own taxes every year.  No matter whom you refer, be assured that their individual tax needs will be looked after in the same professional manner you have been.
